1 in 4 Teachers Is Not Trained in Field

“About one in four classes at public middle schools and high schools is taught by a teacher not trained in the subject, and the problem is much worse in schools that serve poor and minority students, according to a report released today by the Education Trust.

The issue is expected to draw broad attention this fall because, for the first time, the federal government will require schools to tell parents when their children are being taught by these teachers.”
