Notable
Inspired by Prometheus6, I’ve started a “best of” section of my own. These are entries that I’ve put a little more thought than usual into, or which I’m proud of for some reason. This way those entries won’t disappear from the front page of this site simply because they are out of date. I’ve called it “Notable Entries” and it displays the last 10 entries in the “Notable Category”. There aren’t more than 10 listed yet, but when there are you can see them all by clicking on the link in the category section.

// Begin Comments & Trackbacks ?>Yeah, it was pretty easy to set this up in Movable Type - since it is just a “category” and you can assign individual items to multiple categories. The only downside is that it isn’t PHP - so it is a bit slow to make extensive changes to the site. I used to use Nucleus, which was a snap, but lots of little things didn’t work right. Movable Type is just more “mature” …

Very valuable — one of the problems with the blog format is that everything gets lost in the archives. I’ve done something similar over at Ishbadiddle, but in a lo-tech sort of way: there’s a script that pulls up a different notable entry from the archives every time you load the page (under “From the Archives.”) Yet another reason I have to stop using Blogger — gotta get me some of these here tools!
