Ticket to Macland
A week ago I ordered a Macintosh. After eight years of using Windows--95, 98, 2000, and XP--I simply can't stand it any longer.

Thanks for this post, Kerim.

I've finally become so exasperated with Windows that I'm on the brink of returning to the Macintosh (which I used from 1985 to 1996). What's stopped me so far is not fear -- hardly a day goes by without my comparing Windows unfavorably to the Mac -- as the cost of buying new applications but I've recently come to the conclusion that it might be money well spent.

I'll still keep a Windows machine to run certain programs but I'm hoping that I can do most of my day-to-day work on a Macintosh.

Now, here's a question... what model should I buy? I'm torn between a PowerBook/iBook and an eMac. An eMac would allow me to test the waters for a minimal outlay. The notebook would be much more useful but is it a desktop replacement?
