Here is an important utility: keyword

Firefox powers up your search when you assign a keyword to your bookmarks. You could do the same with keywurl.

(thanks for the link!) Yeah, I tried switching out to Safari but couldn't make it work. I'm now, strangely, using both browsers - Safari as much as possible and FF when I need some tool. I've found it helps extend the life of FF. Heh.

Another weird thing I noticed is that where FF slows down to unuseability over time, as Safari gets more air time on my desktop it remains quite snappy all the way to the point where it abruptly crashes. Personally, I prefer FF's behaviour since it gives me more of a chance to save any tabs I don't want lost.

@Barry,

I've tried them all and I currently use CiteULike, Zotero, & Delicious. Some friends of mine like diigo, but I haven't found it that useful. I'm interested in what they do with their new beta however ...

I love trying out FF add-ons. I hadn't heard about autocomplete manager and about this site, so thanks for those!

In Firefox, I've mostly gotten rid of all my extensions except for Operator and the Web Developer Toolbar, and I keep Firebug installed but disabled. Seems to be much more stable now. But I too have switched over to Safari for day-to-day browsing. And as I experiment with how to use Safari's Web Inspector, I see myself potentially using Firefox even less.
