Witness accounts obtained by the Guardian in villages across the Pashtun belt, close to the city of Mazar-i-Sharif, show a pattern of brutal revenge attacks by ethnic Hazara and Uzbek soldiers. The raids began with robbery and destruction and quickly descended into rape and murder.
