The military does just fine with gay and lesbian soldiers, as Thomas Oliphant points out in this excellent column . According to Oliphant, discharges under “don’t ask, don’t tell” are down 25 percent from last year. Why? Since 9/11 , the military has been severely undermanned , and for the most part they haven’t been able to afford to follow the rules closely (Last year’s discharge of seven Arabic -speaking translators who were gay notwithstanding) …
Did you see that last part? They discharged seven Arabic -speaking translators just because they were gay? And they expect to win the peace in Iraq using the “Phraselator“?
