Up till now, full time employment in a large or medium sized company was one of the only ways to ensure that you and your family were adequately covered with decent health insurance. Now, it seems, even the largest employers are seeking to cut benefits to families and spouses:

Overwhelmed by double-digit rates of increase in health care costs, major employers are realizing that the bulk of those expenses don’t come from employees themselves but from their spouses and children. So they are looking for ways to make families foot more of the bill — or drive them elsewhere.
