For some strange reason, Taiwanese love Plurk. So even though I don’t use it myself, I’d like to have my status updates posted there. The problem is that Plurk allows posting to Twitter, but not the other way around. After some research, I finally figured a work around. The trick is to use both Ping.fm and Twitterfeed.
Here are the steps:
<ol>
<li>
<span style="font-size: medium;">Set up a Ping.fm account.</span>
</li>
<li>
<span style="font-size: medium;">Add your Plurk account and turn posting on.</span>
</li>
<li>
<span style="font-size: medium;">Copy the RSS feed from your Twitter profile and add it to Twitterfeed.<br /><strong>UPDATE</strong>: This turns out to pull all your @replies as well. To avoid that, generate a feed from <a href="http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/pipe.info?_id=5n7SVdLz3BGmoCmVEpPZnA" onclick="_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'outbound-article', 'http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/pipe.info?_id=5n7SVdLz3BGmoCmVEpPZnA', 'this Yahoo Pipe instead']);" >this Yahoo Pipe instead</a>.</span>
</li>
<li>
<span style="font-size: medium;">Under “advanced” tell it to just use the description title, not both the title and the description. (In Twitter’s RSS feed they are both the same. So otherwise you will get the text of your twitter post duplicated in your Plurk update. <strong>UPDATE</strong>: Use the title, don’t use the description because it will duplicate your username.)</span>
</li>
<li>
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Set Twitterfeed to post this feed to Ping.fm. (It will ask you for your application key here. You can get that from this page: </span><a href="http://ping.fm/key/" onclick="_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'outbound-article', 'http://ping.fm/key/', 'http://ping.fm/key']);" ><span style="font-size: medium;">http://ping.fm/key</span></a><span style="font-size: medium;"> )</span></span>
</li>
</ol>
<span style="font-size: medium;">That’s it. I hope this is helpful.</span>
